In October 2020, archaeologists made a sensational discovery in the Mainz customs harbour: a slightly smaller than life-size female figure with a naked upper body and hip coat made of sandstone, which is headless but otherwise excellently preserved and is one of the best Roman sculptures found in Germany in recent decades. It is also extraordinary that the statue has survived unbroken on its plinth with inscription.
